One of our partners, Ellen M., fights human trafficking in the Philippines. She has been terribly sick for the last few weeks with symptoms that mirror COVID-19. Thankfully, she recently turned a corner and is starting to feel better. During her time in self quarantine God has been working powerfully. She emailed me these insights. They were so encouraging that I immediately wanted to share a bit of our conversation with you.

–Morgan Funke

Morgan: How are you feeling?

Ellen:  Thanks for checking in. Strangely enough I’m doing really well with the isolation factor emotionally and maybe that’s because I know I’m not the only human on the planet who is doing that. That collective sense is helping me.

In some ways, which might sound bizarre, I feel my current situation is almost like an intercession for the planet as a whole. Not saying God has caused anything with my body, as I don’t believe that, but there’s a sense of compassion in me that’s rising since all of this has occurred. It’s as though I can feel the groaning of the planet.

Morgan: What are you learning?

Ellen: This has definitely stretched me into being grounded, especially where the workload is piling up, my fundraiser is beyond me to make happen, not to mention all the national lockdowns in effect. Some of those countries are involved in my May flight itinerary (for a long-anticipated sabbatical trip.)

Things beyond my control caused emotional fluctuations and upheaval at the beginning, but now I’m leveling off and thinking well God is either my hope or not and I can’t have both mindsets in my heart So for now I continue to wait it out and allow myself to BE in this present moment with the presence of God. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and prayers from all of you at the Cause, as I can sense them going forth on my behalf.

I really am learning so much in this moment, because I see this as a moment in time, yes, but also a time that’s so sacred and will have eternal consequences. I for one don’t want to miss what God is doing in me and on our planet.

Morgan: What are some of the good things you see coming from this very difficult situation worldwide?

Ellen: I believe with everything in me that COVID-19 is breaking down walls of division that our planet has had in place for centuries. I believe as we remain open God will reveal to us through these natural circumstances how we are CONNECTED on so many levels. This also means we are connected not just in Spirit, or the collective consciousness, but in the natural world.

ALL of creation is groaning and there will be a birthing of global unity, global consciousness to the acts of social injustice that go against being human. Global healing will result from this viral outbreak. I can’t see how it won’t produce good and positive change as it’s affecting the planet as a whole.

Greater levels of compassion and kindness towards our fellow man is coming. New ways to heal our natural world will be seen as important now, not just some separate hippie green movement. Established patterns and distractions are being dismantled in how humanity has lived life.

Busyness, no connection and the ego is losing ground because people are being forced to reconcile busyness, connection and self. I think it will take a few years for all of this to happen, but this is my sense.

A unifying of the planet is the end result of this chaos. It’s OK people are experiencing adverse emotions, because COVID-19 has brought to the surface in all of us the plethora of ways in which we have survived and coped through life. We are being forced to face our shadow selves. Eventually emotions will level off and stability in hearts will come.

But we can’t have an awakening without a shaking. Everything is being shaken that can be shaken, and this is so good. It’s time we steward each other and this earth well, like God commanded at the dawn of creation.

I believe this situation has shown and revealed all that has been hidden at root and base levels in our world. This is such a great time in the history of our planet and as a species.

Morgan: Ellen, thanks for sharing. Your words are filled with truth and power!

We are truly living in unprecedented times. Each week brings with it new cases of COVID-19, new shutdowns, and more economic turmoil. When I look at the news and numbers, it’s a bleak scenario, but there is one truth that reverberates in my spirit during this pandemic, ‘what a great time to be alive and have the opportunity to bring the Kingdom of God to earth.’ We are in a season of unprecedented opportunity!
