Mapile Vilakati grew up in Mbutfu, Eswatini, and grew intimately acquainted with the needs of the people there. As he got older, his heart burned to see someone step in and care in such a way that was sustainable, holistic, and fueled by Jesus’ love. With his wife, Hannah, and their 2 kids, they lead a community center that is constantly adjusting to meet the array of needs present in their community.

Every day, hundreds of children and youth gather together for nourishment, education assistance, discipleship, and recreation. After years of successful ministry, Mapile Vilakati (Cause partner) and Morgan Funke (Cause Founder) started dreaming together about how to create more sustainable infrastructures that would multiply the ministry’s impact. They envisioned a community center that is not only giving back to the people but also to the local economy. One that had sustainable operations and a vision to scale and grow.

They dreamed of sustainable food through a chicken project.

Through prayer and strategic networking, The Cause found a donor who was equally as passionate about Mapile’s dream for sustainable food systems. As a recently retired businessman, he was excited to encourage and empower local people to create a tangible difference on the other side of the world.  Together, they strategized, dreamed, funded, and built a chicken coop!

Thanks to this project, the youth at the community center have an internship program where they learn how to care for chickens and run a small business. Alongside the internship, they are able to offer discipleship. The youth have continued to dream of more business ideas that could help sustain this community. These innovative ideas are making it possible for the Mbutfu community center to thrive sustainably for years into the future.

Cause partners all over the world are coming up with creative ways to serve underserved populations. We are strategically working alongside donors to funnel more funds toward these innovative projects. Your donation to our Cause Internal Grants fund is propelling new projects that are increasing sustainability, longevity, and breadth of impact!
