Cathy Anjum Ministries

Who we are:

I felt the calling to share the Gospel in the world when I was in college. Many years later, in 2001, after much preparation and prayer, I felt called to the unreached people groups. The Lord led me to Thailand, a Buddhist nation where 0.4% of ethnic Thai are Christian. I served with Converge in Bangkok, Thailand, for 20 years, teaching evangelistic, conversational English classes to Thai adults at Santisuk English School. Our unique English curriculum (which I co-authored as part of my responsibilities) contains Bible readings about Jesus, but the true ministry impact came from spending time with my students outside of class. I’ve had the privilege of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with thousands of Thai. I’ve helped many Thai become followers of Jesus and then helped them in turn make more disciples of Jesus. Together we’ve helped grow a church that now has capable Thai leaders who were once the Buddhists I was reaching out to.

In 2022, I became a partner with The Cause. I am now serving in other parts of the world alongside my husband.

My husband, Pastor Shakeel, is the founder and senior pastor of Children Chapel. No, it’s not a ministry to children––it began from children! In 1999, Shakeel was called to plant a church in an unchurched, unresponsive, poor, Christian neighborhood in Lahore, Pakistan. For the first two years, children were the only ones who responded. They met together every evening under a tent, and the children continually offered a few pennies and said, “Uncle, we will build a church here.” Shakeel guided them how to pray for their families and how to invite them to the Sunday meetings. From that seed of faith, family members started coming and after many years a building was slowly, slowly built. Today, Children Chapel is a very large congregation of all ages with multiple kinds of ministries. (About 900 people attend every Sunday morning over four services times.) Most of the original children are now married with their own children, and many are leaders and volunteer pastors reaching out into other areas with the Good News of Jesus Christ. In 2007, Children Chapel started Children Chapel School so poor children would have an opportunity for a kindergarten to 10th grade education. Many of these graduates got further training and now have bright futures as nurses and medical technicians.

Who we serve:

My husband and I are passionate about spreading the Good News of the Gospel. We are committed to expanding the ministry of Children Chapel, including helping more and more poor children have the opportunity to receive an education through Children Chapel School.  We also desire to use our combined gifts in leadership, evangelism, preaching, pastoring, music, and writing to facilitate church planting efforts in Asia and beyond, especially in areas where there is no church and where people have not heard the Good News.

How you can pray:
  • Please pray for wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit to lead Children Chapel.
  • Please pray for wisdom on how to minister to people and to win many souls in a world that is quickly changing the mindsets of people.
  • Please pray for more financial provision to expand our ministry work and spread the Gospel in the world.
  • Please pray for good health, strength, and protection.

Thank you so much for your partnership in sharing the Good News of the Gospel in Asia and beyond. May you be blessed in abundance.
