Outpour | Amy Duncan
Mae Sot, Thailand
I am a mother, a sister, a friend, an auntie, a daughter, a leader, a coworker. Born and raised in Indiana, I have had a love for the nations from a young age. I have visited more than 20 countries and have become captivated at the uniqueness that each culture holds. In my travels, I have been forever changed through encounters with the motherless and fatherless, the abandoned, the “forgotten”, the “unwanted”, the over crowded orphanages. I believe that we were originally designed for family and that each child deserves to be in a family, whatever the definition may be.
I have been serving/volunteering in Thailand, on the Thai/Myanmar border, with Outpour since 2012. I, along with my team, have been working towards seeing children know WHO and WHOSE they are in Christ as they enter into safe, loving spaces. We are continuing to further relationships with different Thai governing authorities in order to see family legally restored to children and children legally restored to family. A couple of my anthems are James 1:27 and Isaiah 61.
Outpour exists to empower Kingdom bringers, both foreign and domestic, by facilitating synergy and connection between a variety of programs, projects and initiatives.
We do this by focusing our efforts on a variety of ministries such as: training in specialized job skills and English language, running a family-style home for young refugees, working to amend legal status of stateless abandoned children, and hosting ministers from Myanmar who are preparing to plant churches in unreached areas.
My particular area of focus serves the local Thai governing authorities as well as children.

- Pray for continued divine connections and favor with different governing entities and for people to encounter Jesus.
- Pray for for laws and policies to change on behalf of stateless children, legal identification and adoption.
- Pray for funding to get our newly purchased land safe-home ready, allowing us to step more into what God and the local governing authorities are asking of us.
- Pray for the protection of the fatherless and motherless and the journey to their future legal forever families.
- Pray for us, my team, to only do what God is asking us to do and to keep Him at the forefront of it all.
“Prepare to receive babies and children,” the Lord said to our team years ago. Not knowing the extent of what God meant, we have been preparing ever since—learning more about the need in our border town where trafficking of all kinds happens behind closed doors. We believe God is using us to help pave the way for future children to be rescued from the harsh reality of abandonment and the risks that coincide with it.
In February 2020, we located the right piece of land, signed a contract, and placed a down payment. Then, as we began fundraising, Covid hit the world. Yet in the midst of a global pandemic, we saw over $450,000 come in and officially paid for the land in full in June 2021! Only God!
Our vision for these 24 Rai (9.5 acres) of land is to work in partnership with the local governing authorities as we build safe homes on this land that will care for the needs of babies who’ve been abandoned at the hospitals with no traceable next of kin. Our safe home will be a temporary solution to the long-term goal of seeing these children legally placed into their forever families as soon as we are able, as well as getting them proper identification.
Now we are working to make the land Safe Home ready by bringing in dirt to raise certain places on the land, building a secure concrete wall around the property, running electricity to the land, and beginning sustainable agricultural projects by planting gardens/trees.
This land is about RESTORATION. We believe in it, we pray for it, and we continue each day to pursue this dream of seeing children restored to family and family to children.
“That they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that He may be glorified. And they shall rebuild the old ruins. They shall raise up the former desolations. And they shall repair the ruined cities, the desolations of many generations.”
-Isaiah 61:3-4
Our Refuge Youth Home is not just a family-style home that has taken in a handful of youth from across our border to create a safe space for them to come and receive an education and set themselves up well for the future. It’s a FAMILY in every sense of the word, and the youth who are there have been each other’s family for most of their adolescent years.
PlahSoe loved his family, and he had so many dreams for each of them. Before his passing, he was just a few months away from graduating high school and was excited to get a full-time job where he could earn more
money to help support the dreams of his siblings. His heart for them was HUGE and he wanted every opportunity for them that they could possibly have. He longed for them to get their identification so they could freely travel outside of Mae Sot like he could. He longed for them to be able to continue their education at University if they desired to keep studying.
He had already personally begun saving for all of these things for them—committed to sowing into the futures of his brothers and sisters. And our desire is to continue carrying that dream.
This legacy fund—set up in PlahSoe’s honor—will help provide continued education opportunities for the rest of the youth and kids at Refuge Youth Home, as well as help them toward getting their identification. It will help set them up well for the future and allow each one to continue pursuing the dreams the Lord has placed on their hearts.
