Outpour | Joshua Glover
Mae Sot, Thailand
My name is Joshua and I have spent the last decade involved with international missions in some capacity. I've circumnavigated the globe twice, visited around 20 countries and lived in 13 of them. I've made my bed in some of the darkest corners this world has to offer and have seen the transformative power of God's Light when He shines in such places. From the refugee camps of Lesvos, the favelas of South America, the open air human trafficking markets of SE Asia, and everything in between, I have seen the Goodness and Faithfulness of God show up in the deepest depths of hell itself. For "the light shines in the darkness and the darkness could not overtake it." But in all of my travels and adventures there has been one place the Lord continues to tug my heart towards, the border between Thailand and Burma.
My heart bleeds for the people who transcend the Thai/Burma border. For the stateless babies and kiddos who fall victim to traffickers and beasts. For the refugees and displaced men, women, and children who's homes and livelihood have been uprooted and destroyed by military juntas and their bombs and tyranny. My heart is for everyone to see their place at His Table in His House. To see the marginalized, the orphan and the widow, to find their home and identity rooted in His eternal royal Kingdom. Like Joshua son of Nun, I believe I was put on this planet to lead a generation into their true inheritance.
I am currently serving with an organization called Outpour. Outpour has spent the last 20 years serving the people who transcend the Thai/Myanmar border through educational training, social enterprises, community outreach, and child and family advocacy. To empower individuals and families to find belonging and restoration in Christ while creating eternal impact.
One of the ministries under Outpour's covering that I will be directly involved with is their Refuge Home. The Refuge is a youth safe home for boys and girls aged 10-19 who come from desperate situations in conflict zones across the border in Myanmar. This home provides a family structure and safe space for these youth to learn and grow in all areas of life. The heart behind this home is to:
- Equip youth with education and training to go back to poverty-stricken and war-torn areas in Burma to help their people
- Model Godly family, love, and values
- Obtain proper documentation for all who come into our care
- Establish a safe, nurturing environment
- Restore children to family and family to children
- For His Peace to govern my heart and mind through the calm and chaotic.
- For the continued submission of my heart to His plan and vision for my life and those I share life with.
- That the Gospel of His Kingdom will catch like a wildfire, consuming that border with everlasting life and light.
- The restoration of family to children and children to family
- That all may see their seat at His Table
Our Refuge Youth Home is not just a family-style home that has taken in a handful of youth from across our border to create a safe space for them to come and receive an education and set themselves up well for the future. It’s a FAMILY in every sense of the word, and the youth who are there have been each other’s family for most of their adolescent years.
PlahSoe loved his family, and he had so many dreams for each of them. Before his passing, he was just a few months away from graduating high school and was excited to get a full-time job where he could earn more
money to help support the dreams of his siblings. His heart for them was HUGE and he wanted every opportunity for them that they could possibly have. He longed for them to get their identification so they could freely travel outside of Mae Sot like he could. He longed for them to be able to continue their education at University if they desired to keep studying.
He had already personally begun saving for all of these things for them—committed to sowing into the futures of his brothers and sisters. And our desire is to continue carrying that dream.
This legacy fund—set up in PlahSoe’s honor—will help provide continued education opportunities for the rest of the youth and kids at Refuge Youth Home, as well as help them toward getting their identification. It will help set them up well for the future and allow each one to continue pursuing the dreams the Lord has placed on their hearts.
