Who We Are
We are Sonido de Luz – Sound of Light, in English – and it is our mission to raise up worship leaders in the Church in Honduras by providing quality music education and Christ-centered discipleship.
We are a husband and wife team! After we married in Honduras in 2024, Christian shared a dream that had long been in his heart: to teach music to members of the church. As a child, someone inviting him to play drums in the church helped root him in the faith and cultivate his passion for music, and he wanted to give that to others as well. He had been searching for the right time to begin this work for years; and we quickly realized that his dream and my passion to teach and exhort others aligned perfectly.
Thus Sonido de Luz was born.
The name came easily and speaks to our entire purpose: equipping church members to serve with ALL the gifts God has given them and amplify His Light in the world. Our high call is to create disciples who create disciples so that the echo of our ministry will continue long after we’ve taught our students all that we know.
In their time with Sonido de Luz, our students will learn fundamental music theory and techniques during our weekly classes. Our course will provide much-needed opportunity for students to not only understand how to read music but also to receive personal feedback as they begin to play, which will grow them in confidence and capability.
They will learn:
– Rhythm: symbol names and counting, meter, time signatures, etc.
– Chords and Scales: all the different types, in theory and practice to utilize in their playing
– Physical techniques: how to breathe, finger placement, chord positions, etc
– Listening: recognizing intervals, chords, melodies, and rhythms by ear
– Composition: This is the final step!
They will also grow in their unique identity in Christ as we cultivate a community of worship leaders. This portion of their classes will focus on a holistic view of God’s character and walk them through discovering which of these characteristics He has created them to reflect in their own ministry.
They will explore:
– God’s nature displayed in how He interacts with His people
– The harmony of God’s character – displayed in the Trinity and the balance of His attributes: justice and mercy, humility and preeminence, judgement and love.
– Which part of God’s character THEY see reflected in their lives and OTHERS see in them
– What lies they may be believing that contradict or distract them from living those out fully
Through this work, we will equip students who feel a passion and call from the Lord to lead through music with all the tools they need to play with high quality and lead intentionally.

Who We Serve
We live in and serve the area of Siguatepeque in the center of Honduras. In this mountainous region, rural communities are dotted along rocky and muddy roads, limiting their access to literally everything – from food to teachers in the schools to jobs to provide for themselves. However, in the face of this hardship, the churches are steadfast lights in the darkness.
As we build the foundation for our ministry (est. June 2025), we are focusing our efforts in a small community called Matazano. They are so humble, generous, and eager to learn! They have taken the first lesson they received to heart: their practice of what they learn with us is a deposit for the Lord. Every time we meet, we see improvement from the youngest (about 16) to the oldest (the pastor!).
In the near future, we plan to begin classes in another community and hope to expand into the city of Siguatepeque as well. While those in the city don’t face the same physical barriers to access, there is always need to disciple people well, especially in the more niche area of music and worship leading. Because of this, our heart is to never exclude anyone based on denomination and to make the teaching accessible for anyone from teens to seniors – all within reason and wisdom. If they proclaim the Christ of the Scriptures, then we are happy to work with them.
We have even larger visions to extend our reach into more regions in Honduras, build ministry schools, and create a distinct voice of worship that Honduras can be proud of.

How You Can Pray
Good Soil – please pray for us as we continue to sow seeds. Pray that, as we walk through the hurdles the first years of ministry bring, our hearts would remain fertile soil for the vision God has planted in us.
Wisdom – that we would never step ahead or drag behind the Lord’s will, but that we would consistently follow where and when the Spirit leads.
Partners – we are still working to fully fund our ministry. Pray that we would be bold as we share our vision and that the Lord guides us to those who also want to share in the work we’re doing and enjoy the fruit of ministry with us.
Faithfulness – that we and our students would continue our work with perseverance, holding true to Colossians 1:28-29 “Christ we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me”.
