The Art Room, in Boise Idaho, is, a community for creation - a place to create, learn, and connect.
For the past 8 months, my wife Cat and I have been inviting people into our home to do art. Every Saturday we dedicate the whole day to making and teaching people pottery. We provide the supplies and instruction for free because we just want people to create and do it in community. Most weeks, we see 20+ people on Saturday, many of whom are personally invited by someone other than us because of the joy people find at the Art Room.
Our dream is to build an art center and coffee shop in downtown Boise. We envision an art center that is not exclusive but welcoming to kids, where memberships and classes are affordable, and where the priority is not fine art but great community. In time, with financial support from our community, and by God’s hand we will build a community for creation in Boise.

It is not uncommon for young people to be lonely and isolated. Without a church, and no longer in school, it can be difficult to establish meaningful friendships. Likewise, we are all over-reliant on our phones. We pay so much of our attention to screens and consuming media that many young people never learn to create.
Our mission is to be a place where people find relationships and community. Our mission is to help people remember their God-given identity as a creator and responsibility to make this world beautiful.
