Our partners Blesson and Kristina have a thriving ministry in South India, Blesson International Ministries. Recently, Kristina sent out an email about how to make the most of your groceries during an uncertain time. Her content was so pertinent we had to share it with you all.
They just had 4 new villages, previously unreached for the gospel, open up and they had 15 people come into a life changing relationship with Jesus. How exciting!
Unfortunately, in India, when someone converts to Christianity, they lose employment and government aid. So Blesson and Kristina are currently working to create jobs and small businesses that train and empower the poor. Click Here to support their deeply worthwhile campaign!

Kristina’s Email:
We go through many city shutdowns due to huge strikes that break out for one political cause or another.
Stores shut down because protesters will destroy their stores if they are open. Many times it happens without any warning and we wake up and all grocery shops are closed.
Some of these strikes last for days or even weeks. Blesson’s family has lived with these issues their whole life.
So how do they manage?
Tips From Sister Daisy (Blesson’s Mom):
Sister Daisy says some of her best dishes are when she prayers over the food while cooking. The Lord gives her wisdom on how to prepare and she has seen the amount increase.
Less is more
When you have limited ingredients in your home to prepare a meal try to look at what you have instead of what you need. For example, you may not have all the ingredients for your dish but try to make it anyway. Some of our favorite dishes come from a time we had little.
Plan your meals and shopping
Shop with intention. Buy dry ingredients like rice, pastas, oats, beans, chickpeas, flours, and oils. Buy fresh foods that last long like onions, root veggies, etc. Buy what you need, don’t waste your money on things you want
Involve your kids
When you have only a little bit of food in your house and you know your kids might complain, get them to help cook the meal. For example, if you only have ramen noodles let your kid help stir in the spices. This will help them feel like they are a part of the effort and feel rewarded for their skills.
