We’re honored to introduce you to Carmen Vigil, the driving force behind Home Austin, and an incredible individual who is making a profound impact in the world of foster care.

For the past six years, Carmen has opened her heart and home to provide a safe and loving environment for nine children and seven families in the Austin area.

But Carmen’s impact goes beyond foster parenting. She’s a community builder, weaving connections and support networks for foster children and families. In a world that can often feel isolating, Home Austin is a beacon of hope.

Foster care is a cause that desperately needs more champions like Carmen. In the United States alone, there are an estimated 391,000 children in the foster care system, awaiting support, love, and stability.

Home Austin is what you might expect; they value community, advocate for foster children and families, and are kind voices in a chaotic environment.

Here’s what we see when we look at them: Sweet little hands that reach for Carmen, and she’s always waiting to hold them.

It’s not about the labels, the ministry, or even fighting the system. For Carmen, this is about making the word “home” equate to safe, peace, and always. Home Austin is about these small hearts that have lived through turbulence, and gently ushering them into a place to be loved. It’s about them knowing they’re chosen, worthy of protection, and that they have a foundation of “steadfast” to look to when life hits.

We’re honored to partner with Carmen and Home Austin, supporting their incredible work in making a difference in the lives of foster children and families.
