Cedar & Palm | Jared and Sam Friesen
Salem, Oregon, USA
Jared Friesen is an author and story guide based in Salem, Oregon, whose work explores the intersection of narrative, faith, and relational healing.
For over a decade, he and his wife, Samantha, served in both local and global missions — most notably, raising awareness and offering education on the harms of a pornified culture. As they witnessed increasing relational disconnection within church communities, they shifted their work to build practical, aesthetic resources for a deeper well-being in followers of Jesus.
Today, they are the founders of Cedar & Palm, while Jared continues his studies in Narrative Focused Trauma Care with The Allender Center at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.
We find ourselves in a culture of deep ambivalence, growing individualism, and relentless exhaustion. Many of us are familiar with disappointment, uncertain whether life with God is truly significant.
We are desperate for what Jesus called the "Great Commandment": a meaningful relationship with God, our neighbor, and ourselves. His Way is not merely an escape from brokenness but a lifelong practice of peace and freedom. Who we love and how we love are the bedrock for the life we long for.
Because of this, we help followers of Jesus pursue relational well-being, designing creative resources for core relationships. This spiritually formative work cultivates sacred space to “know and be known,” inviting our Triune God to deeply transform us into a people of compassion, community, and hope.
Resources Include: VOLUME 01 HANDBOOK, STORY ENGAGEMENT, STORY GROUPS, and RETREATS.
For our family to stay connected, grounded in the love of the Father as we tenderly engage the ambivalence, individualism, and exhaustion of the world.
Through our offerings and services, that followers of Jesus would be transformed into a people of compassion, connection, and hope.
Ultimately, the Kingdom would find itself more present here on earth through the work of Cedar & Palm.
