We are ecstatic to share that through generous gifting from our supporters, enough money was raised to restore stolen food and supplies to Cleophas Ministries.

As a result of the volcanic eruption of Nyiragongo on May 22nd in The Democratic Republic of The Congo, 105 orphans with Cleophas Ministries were forced to flee 25 miles on foot, in the darkness.

Thankfully, the orphanage was not damaged but they came back and realized that they had been robbed. Several mattresses and beds along with a solar panel, tv, and a month’s worth of food supply were stolen.

Emanga Cleophas, the pastor for Cleophas Ministries, has been providing for the children by selling stoves he makes, but he struggles to keep the kids fed even in the best of circumstances.

Our goal was to restore the stolen supplies and to get as many kids as possible sponsored for $29 a month, which will help provide food and lodging for them long-term.

We can’t even begin to imagine the fear and helplessness these kids were feeling after evacuating, then having their supplies stolen, and the comfort of a bed taken.

Seeing food stolen from orphan children is deeply horrific and heartbreaking, but we felt compelled to share this story because we believe that God is going to give back so much more than was taken!

Last week, we sent out a campaign to help Cleophas Ministries restock the supplies that were stolen after the volcano erupted. Thanks to our supporters’ generosity all the stolen goods are being replaced. That includes a month worth of food, mattresses, beds, tv, and a solar panel!

This could not have been done without our donors. Your gifts have been a tremendous blessing in a very unfortunate situation.

A recent update from Dan Clark, Executive Director of Cleophas Ministries, informed us that there is still another pressing need for the widows under their care. After the volcano erupted, 6 of their homes were found completely destroyed. Our hearts ache for their loss. We want to do everything in our power to help these women have safe homes again.

To make up for the cost of supplies and labor, our new fundraising goal has increased to $13,477. The campaign will be kept open until we can help raise enough to rebuild these homes!

We will continue to send updates as the donations come in. Please lift Cleophas Ministries up in prayer as they navigate a very tough situation.
